Amanda Bossard was just out high school when she began her marine biology education at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard's career began in 1999 with a job on the F/V Sunset. It is a 65-foot halibut boat was turned to a salmon tender by Murat Ariatn. The couple is a commercial fisherman for the past twenty years. Bossard is now engaged to Aritan and they have come together to prove their rights to the industry. Both of them are in favor of conserving resources and optimizing profits. Otolith is an independent wholesale distributor of seafood which was founded in Philadelphia in 2007 by a woman who is now the mother of two young children: Bella aged 3 and Andre age 1. The couple is separated by 5 months plus more to allow her to concentrate on her goals in terms of finances and the environment. In July 2016, Bossard and her daughter Isabella aged 12 and Andre age 10 Andre age 10 return to Southeast Alaska annually each summer to work as deckhands throughout the harvest of wild salmon in the summer. Hooks and lines are employed to collect their fish, and then join Aritan to sell to local processors for two months. Then they continue to increase their direct seafood sale through Otolith Sustainable Seafood.
